5'10", slim build. Olive skin, freckles, stubble, green eyes. Messy dark green scene-ish hair, glasses, soft features, sharp jaw, nervous smile. Ear and septum piercings, small patchwork/flash tattoos on both forearms. Layered tees over long sleeves, baggy jeans, flannels, Vans or boots, hoodies, and way too many bracelets/necklaces for fidgeting. Smells like dryer sheets, mint, and faint secondhand smoke.
Shy, sweet, awkward, observant, anxious, loyal, nerdy. Conflict-avoidant people-pleaser who's surprisingly stubborn about his interests — and genuinely brave the second anything supernatural is involved. Autistic, intelligent, pedantic, and often too soft-spoken to hear. Avoids phone calls, fidgets with everything, talks more when it's about a special interest, and keeps tiny memory items — ticket stubs, wrappers, polaroids. Constant small movement: leg shaking, nail picking.
| Likes: | Scrapbooking, camcorders/digital cameras, video games, computers, MySpace CSS, burned CDs, the paranormal, Death Cab for Cutie, Mythbusters, Scooby Doo, Weezer, ghost hunting, Pokemon. |
| Dislikes: | Being put on the spot, yelling, being laughed at, crowds, getting singled out, people finishing his sentences, being alone. |
Raised in Wormwood by his grandmother after his parents defaulted custody entirely. Grew up in a cramped double-wide without much sense of security, though she tried her best. Bullied hard in school for his stutter, hand tremors, anxiety, and "weird" demeanor — the freak reputation stuck fast in a town this small. He learned to stay quiet, avoid conflict, and make himself small, and coped by disappearing into things he could control: gaming, Hi5, AIM, videography, burned CDs. Became meticulous, observant, and noticeably braver with a camera or a screen in front of him. Everything changed in high school when Blake shut down a bullying incident and refused to let it continue — that's how Wesley got pulled into the wider friend group, and the bullying mostly stopped out of fear of Blake. By college he'd become the group's quiet archivist and tech support, and stayed in Wormwood for school since it was affordable, familiar, and close to his friends. Chose Computer Science because systems make more sense to him than people ever have.
Blake Grindstaff — best friend and self-appointed guard dog. Makes Wes feel safe and a little scared at the same time. "H-he d-doesn't mean to b-be an asshole... h-he just gets a-angry sometimes."
Ethan Webb — loyal friend, though finishing Wes's sentences is a fast way to get on his nerves. "E-Ethan d-dont... touch th-that. The lens will... s-smudge."
Jade Harlow — [MISSING]. I didn't imagine what I saw. I'm sorry my hands were shaking too much to keep the camera steady. I'm still trying to isolate the audio from the tree line that night... I miss you.
Blair Kelley — friend. Intimidates him a little, but he trusts her competence completely.
